The bracket that connects to an electrical box is very bad and the fan shakes a little on high speed.
It's an ok fan, just not bright and cheaply made.

You CAN outfit it with compact fluorescents. Nuvision makes a soft white, candelabra base bulb specifically for this kind of fan, and it's bulb style, so you can have a traditional look while still using cfls.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this 52-inch five-blade ceiling fan as much for the convenience of having it shipped to my door as anything else.

We had replaced all old fans in our house and needed a white one to swap with an old 70's style fan that was in a back bedroom.I was worried that this fan would be cheaply made and be comparable to a $50 fan purchased at a discount store, but I was happily wrong about that.

This fan was easy to install if you already know how to install a ceiling fan; if not, hire a professional to do it.All in all it took my husband about an hour to do and while we won't use it with a remote, it sure works great for it's intended purpose.It's quiet and smooth running; even when used with an extra-long down-rod.Can't comment on the light quality because we didn't purchase the lightbulbs neededyet.(I see that it's the first line of the description - light bulbs not included - and it uses the small ones you wouldn't likely have on hand.Somehow I didn't read that when I ordered the fan.)

So make sure you have the lightbulbs on hand.

Overall, this unit seems like a decent purchase.Sure we may have gotten something similar or even better for this price had we chose to walk around our home improvement store, but purchasing this one on Amazon and having it delivered to our door was too convenient in this case.

Overall, a good purchase.

(More customer reviews)We bought this type of fans more than 2 years ago from OSH.We like the look, the cost and how it works (very quiet and stable, also flush mountable). you get the best bang of your money.A month ago, we bought another one from Amazon.com.In the product description it states using "standard-base light bulbs".After opening the package, we found that it uses candelabra based light bulbs.For this, we returned it to Amazon.com because we'd like to use more generic products for easy light bulb replacement.

After talking to several sales persons and electricians at local Home Depot stores, I found all new ceiling fans have changed light bulbs to either candelabra base or Intermediate base (or E-17 Intermediate) in recent years in order to bypass an energy saving requirement imposed on Standard Medium Base light bulbs.At this time, there is no specific energy-saving requirement on the candelabra or Intermediate base light bulbs.The downside of using none-standard type bulbs is that you are locked in to buy them from limited number of dealers.It can be hard to find replacement bulbs.
