(More customer reviews)We chose this for our media room because of its modern styling (and
my wife wanted to add an overhead light to the room.) The fan and remote
operate perfectly, no wobble, smooth, quiet, the best. The light is another matter. It's one tiny 100w halogen bulb in a frosted glass dish.
The light output is meager at best, they should have put two bulbs
in there for it to have any real usefulness.(see customer images)
The light assembly is also not up to Casablanca's usual high standard.
The globe/dish mounts into a cheesy stamped aluminum pan with a bayonet
type mount ( push in and twist to lock ) My assembly must have been on
the extremes of manufacturing size tolerances (large diameter globe,
small diameter aluminum pan) because it wouldn't rotate and lock all the
way. When I tried to unlock it, the entire lamp pan assembly started
turning instead of just the globe.
It's jammed in there, half locked, so I'm not worried about it falling out, but when the lamp finally blows I'll have to remove the entire fan
assembly from its mount in the ceiling and take it to the service center
(which thankfully is in the next town) and pay to have them repair it.
I contacted customer service, and this isn't covered under the warranty. So if you really need a room light with your fan, buy a more
traditional Casablanca design.

(More customer reviews)This is an excellent ceiling fan.It runs very quietly, and is easily controlled by the included remote control. I was particularly impressed by the installation. I was mounting this on a sloped ceiling, and fan comes with everything needed to do that, although I did order an extension rod (it comes with a 6-inch extension) to lower it somewhat.You do have to be sure that you have a solid mounting for this heavy fan.Fortunately, the electrical box that I was mounting to was already configured for a ceiling fan.At the ceiling, the mounting cover is in two pieces split about 3/4.You attach the larger piece, then when you're ready for the electrical connections, you lift the fan in place (have some help available - it's heavy!) and place the ball end of the extension rod into the mount.It holds it securely, and allows you to move the fan around as necessary.When you're done, you simply screw the last piece of the mount cover in place.

The actual assembly of the fan and blases was very smooth also.

(More customer reviews)Love the design of this fan.Very quiet and lots of extras included in the product.Only drawback is that it provides very little light.If you are looking for a fan that provides high strength lighting this may not be the fan for you.The wattage of the light bulbs suggested is limited.I will need another type of light in the room where it is installed.If that is not a concern I would highly recommend this fan.Love the security feature it provides.

(More customer reviews)This is a great looking, quality fan that has a contemporary style without being over the top. With a 3 blade design and compact motor housing, it looks a bit anorexic compared to more traditional fans, but this is not a complaint. Even though it is a large diameter sweep, it does not look overwhelming. The graphite side of the blades is dark and matte (like a chalkboard), while the brushed nickel finishes look much better and brighter in person than in any photo I have seen online- including the dismal picture on this product page.

This particular ASIN (B00083UKUO) includes the light kit. Many other retailers sell it without the kit for about the same price. I'm impressed by the non-fussy appearance, and there is something about the shade of the frosting on the glass globe that compliments the overall contemporary look. There is an option to install the kit without the globe, however this makes the halogen lights very direct and harsh (though it looks cool).

The included remote control, other than being larger than necessary and cheap feel, is full function. You can turn the fan on/off, change speed/direction, and dim the lights.

It comes with a 7" downrod, which will be too short if your ceilings are >9'.

[UPDATE] I said in the review that the light kit is included. It was when I made my purchase, which came from the Amazon *Featured Merchant* Delmar Designs (who delivered quickly in excellent condition). I now see a photo of the remote appears on the product page. This is not the remote that came with my unit and looks better (hopefully!). Also, the instructions really do suck.
