First, they call for the box to be at least 1/16" below your ceiling. What? Then, they have you attach to the stud under the box, rather than the box. I used a box flush with the ceiling and attached the mounting plate to the box and to the stud below with my own screws.

From there, the instructions are incredibly convoluted. The wiring diagram had an error. YES AN ERROR. The instructions for setting the remote (what do you need a remote for?) did not match what I had - another ERROR. They did not point out the existence of a temporary hanger but I found it after I constructed my own.

Finally, all ready to go except for the blades, but I wanted to check that it worked before finally securing. Turn on. NO fan. Tried switching the neutrals (the ones that were mislabeled) and still no fan. So I simply chucked the stupid remote and directly wired the fan and light hot wires to my hot and wired their neutral to my neutral. And it worked!

I then attached the fan to the top plate and attached the light assembly. Then put on the fan blades - you must screw in from the top with little room - so get yourself an extra short screw driver. When I FINALLY finished the fan worked well.

I installed the old fan I removed in our bedroom and it took about 5 minutes. This new hunter fan took about 3.5 hours, and I had do a couple of fixes myself to make it work! I can see why they came out with their new 5 minute fan - if others had an experience like mine this company would go belly up in a short time.
